Partie 1. Descentes difficiles dans le passage souterrain
Partie 2. Montées guidées par les publicités
L’entrée dans le passage Rainbow attire les enfants avec des trottinettes qui se réfugient du soleil à l’ombre des panneaux publicitaires.
Part 1. The entry to the Rainbow Underpass attracts children riding their tricycles who are looking for shelter from the sun under the shade provided by advertising displays. Although the underpasses were initially designed to facilitate pedestrian mobility, their steep slopes make them difficult to use.
Note the existing wheelchair ramps, remnants of an unfinished project that was aimed to facilitate wheelchair access with an elevator that has never been installed, the only remaining possibility for wheelchair users being the steep ramp.
Part 2. Also, the exit from the underpass involves climbing the steep stairs, the only sight for the eyes being the advertising displays strategically located on the stairs. Hence, the urban crossing facilities rather become commercial opportunities instead of opportunities to build public goods that meet the real needs of the citizens and make area transiting an easy and enjoyable experience.ei.
